REFLECTIONS FROM MY STUDENTS AND FAMILIES THAT FILL MY HEART WITH JOY.

Ms Aubrey is an amazing and incredible teacher. I wish all of my child's teachers had the same passion, high standards and effective environment for learning. Our child learned how to be responsible for her own practice with minimal involvement from myself. Our child's "ear" really developed to the point where she could tell immediately when she was playing a song wrong. She got experience sight reading and learning intervals - basically, a whole toolbox of knowledge for her to continue to learn new songs on her own when desired. I highly recommend her as a piano teacher but also as someone that will teach your child to be responsible for their own work/practice which is invaluable.

My 11 year old son has been taking piano lessons with Ms. Aubrey since he was 7. He loves to pay the piano and Ms. Aubrey is wonderfully patient and a great teacher. She is very good at making sure that the basics are perfect before moving forward. Finn loves his lessons and plays beautifully thanks to her. I would highly recommend.

Aubrey is a patient, creative genius. My children do not love practicing but they love to work with Ms. Aubrey. She makes learning fun and engaging. As far as teacher magic goes, Aubrey has it all. I would strongly recommend trying to work with Ms. Aubrey if you can get her. The performances are wonderful and a true testament to how truly talented she is at her work.

Aubrey Faith Slaker is a highly qualified and talented piano teacher. I studied under her for about 10 years using the Suzuki method. I have taken group classes and private lessons. She is creative and natural in her teaching style. Attentive to what the student needs to succeed in lesson and at home. She works with the parents to encourage practice and be part of the learning process outside of lesson. She inspires and expects a lot from her students, but she teaches them the skills to succeed and be musically accomplished!

Aubrey encourages creative ideas and musical endeavours. I remember converting a Bach piano minuet into a duet for two ukuleles, performing a minute by rotating between 5 performers, and making an online quiz to determine what musical period fits best. She teaches important ear training and melodic dictation skills. Encouraged a lot of listening to the music pieces we were working on and different types of music.

There is so much more to learning a piece of music than just the notes! She would have us play for eachother in class for performance practice which helped with performance confidence and etiquette. In private lesson, we worked on a variety of pieces while building repertoire and keeping it polished. Each new piece brought a new skill and the continuation of skills already learned. Aubrey knows several different ways to teach a skill if one way does not fit the student. She helps cultivate practice skills with repetition and patience. She incorporates theory, musical history, and interesting facts into lesson. She works a lot at teaching high level piano technique and it stands out. Her students usually rank very high if they participate in piano competitions and in general stand out from other piano students.

Aubrey can teach students of all ages. From just beginning the musical journey to having some experience. She is a teacher that a student can grow with and learn so much from. I highly recommend taking piano lessons from Aubrey!

Aubrey and I met as fellow Suzuki teachers (I was newly starting out my career), and we quickly graduated into a mentor relationship. I had the golden opportunity to observe her teaching, and was amazed and honored to learn from her. If you're seeking a teacher for your child, look no further. Aubrey is one of the best that Chicagoland has to offer! You'll be met with joy and a contagious zest for music, life, and learning. She proactively engages her students with care and new ways to learn. I've watched her take a reluctant 3 year old who wanted to crawl under the piano instead of play said piano, and teach her to be a confident, poised, and playing young student. During a lesson you laugh, learn, and walk away feeling like you could accomplish anything, as both a parent and the child. Aubrey equips her families with every possible tool they could need to not only begin to learn the piano, but the desire to continue because her presentation of music education is unmatched. "Every child can learn", right? Who better to learn with than Aubrey?!
